"CAFFEINE BRINGS A HIGH DEGREE OF PROFESSIONALISM RARELY FOUND IN NICHE PUBLISHING WHILE RETAINING THE PASSION FOR THE WORLD OF COFFEE." - Caffeinemag.com
I was commissioned to create firstly the cover around the theme of one of the internal articles; ''Science says you can taste - a positive piece on learning to taste".
With this brief, I envisioned the cupping table showing the tasters scooping back the crust to reveal various coffee tasting notes floating up and breaking the surface, this is the image you see on the cover.
Secondly, continuing that theme - The internal one pager - V60, all of the coffee tasting elements are combined in place of the brewed grounds within the filter, could also double as a visual metaphor for the 'bloom' phase of the Brew. The elements you can see represent the aromas and flavours we might come across regularly in a basic brew; Apple/Malic acid, berry, hazelnut, jasmine/floral, honey/sweetness, cocoa.
The other internal pieces on the illustrator feature are 5 of my existing pieces.
All artwork for this issue was created and sketched with Apple Pencil and iPad Pro - using just a HB and coloured pencil brush (I still treat it like its pen on paper) - I get to create that hand drawn piece but magnify all of its elements I previously could not do with a paper based study.
The V60 is now available as a 12"x17" heavy silk print, short run on my store

The Daily Grind
Logo Tests for upcoming Barcelona based coffee shop 'The Daily Grind'.
The request was to great a simple logo incorporating the Caffeine molecule.
Referring to the top design (which was later chosen as the final choice); The type was also modelled on the atom numbering style found on scientific papers.
The logo is designed to be at the forefront of the store, for use on cup stamps, sign ware and print.
